Veterinary Practice Manager Maggie with Black CatMaggie has been with the Middleton Veterinary Hospital for over 20 years. She is a certified veterinary technician that enjoys interacting with people and their pets. Since 2001 she has been working as our practice manager. Maggie and her husband Mark have three children and one German Shorthaired Pointer named Glenn. Her hobbies include boating, baseball, and all things outside.

Kristal Runde, CVT

Veterinary Technician Kristal with KittenKristal graduated from MATC in 2000 and has been at Middleton Veterinary Hospital ever since. She takes special pride in her ability to help with complex anesthesia cases and enjoys exotics. Kristal also enjoys reading and watching movies.   




Heidi Beyer, CVT

Veterinary Technician Heidi with KittenHeidi has been a licensed veterinary technician for over 27 years, graduating from Canton ATC College in New York. She has been at Middleton Veterinary Hospital since 2003. Heidi has a special interest in feline care and pediatrics. She is very active in feline rescue, specializing in bottle feeding orphan kittens. At any given time she fosters a dozen or more kittens and cats while they are waiting for that special home. Heidi lives with her husband Chuck, two dogs (Cisco and Tristan), and four cats (Oliver, Yellowbeard, Beatrice, and Joycat).   

Rachel Covey, CVT

Veterinary Technician Rachel with CatRachel has been at the Middleton Veterinary Hospital for 9 years, first as a member of our kennel staff and currently as a certified veterinary technician. She enjoys meeting clients and taking care of their animals. Rachel and her husband LeRoy have a two-and-a-half-year-old son named Parker. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys taking Parker on adventures and reading books. Her two cats, Carmel and Charger, keep her busy as well.


Jessica Melby, CVT

Veterinary Technician Jessica with Boston Terrier Bettie PaigeJessica is a certified veterinary technician and we are lucky to have her. She graduated from MATC in 2011 and joined us in May. She finds it especially rewarding to be able to comfort animals that are sick or scared during hospitalization. Being able to provide extra TLC is part of why she became a technician. Jessica is a newlywed and enjoys spending time with her husband Jason. Together they have a cat named Moose and three dogs; a Golden Retriever named Potter, a Long Haired Dachshund named Tank, and a Boston Terrier named Bettie Paige. Now that she has graduated she is trying to decide which hobby to pursue in place of studying. High on the list of contenders are running, roller derby, photography, or painting.   

Fay Schmitt, CVT

Veterinary Technician FayFay has been with the Middleton Veterinary Hospital since 1981. She is a certified veterinary technician and has watched the hospital grow from a one-doctor practice to a five-doctor practice. Her primary focus is inventory management. This includes ordering medications and supplies, maintaining all our advanced equipment, and looking into special purchases for individual clients. When time allows though she still enjoys helping with patient care too! Fay lives on a dairy farm with her husband, three children, and three cats.   

Chris Diaz, Veterinary Assistant

Crystal, also known as Chris, is somewhat new to our team but has been working in the veterinary field for over seven years. After moving to Madison from her hometown in El Paso, TX, she found her passion working with animals, big and small. Not only does she work at the front desk from time to time, but she also helps out in our exam rooms during appointments. Like the rest of our team, Chris strives to make appointments fun and positive for both people and their pets.

Lisa Anderson

Veterinary Receptionist Lisa with Dog Maverick   Lisa has been our customer care specialist since she joined us in 2000. She really enjoys getting to know everyone and their pets and will greet you with a smile! Lisa lives with a menagerie of dogs and cats and is also a foster for two local rescues. In her spare time she enjoys running, reading, writing songs, and playing guitar.
